Miniature Portraits for the Royal State Coach
Gillie Hoyte-Byrom & Peter Hayton, both Hilliard Society members, have secretly been involved for the last two years or more making 50 miniature Royal Portraits for a beautiful State Coach in Australia.
The coach is being made by Jim Frecklington, the last Royal coach builder in the world, for King Charles III. Sadly, the build was delayed due to illness (Jim had hoped to have finished before King Charles’s Coronation) but it is now nearing completion and it is hoped that it will be shipped over to the UK soon.
Gillie created the fifty beautiful royal portrait miniatures in vitreous enamel, and then Peter made the special frames to house them.
They will be fitted on the interior of the coach for the King and Queen to admire while travelling in the splendour of this magnificent coach on state occasions.
